DeepSeek founder Liang Wenfeng remains cautious about external financing

PANews reported on February 19 that according to The Information, DeepSeek has not raised external funds so far, partly to avoid pressure from investors to commercialize its products too quickly. But according to people familiar with internal discussions, since the company's AI chatbot application became famous overnight a few weeks ago, the company has considered external financing due to the need for more AI chips and servers to cope with the rapidly growing usage and support model development. According to people familiar with the matter, in addition to discussing whether to raise funds, executives of DeepSeek and its hedge fund parent company Huanfang Quant are also discussing whether they should shift from focusing primarily on research to building a business that can generate substantial revenue and ultimately achieve profits. It is reported that DeepSeek founder Liang Wenfeng remains cautious about external financing.
