PANews reported on June 4 that according to Barrons, Badiss Mohamed Amide Bajjou, a 24-year-old French-Moroccan dual citizen suspected of planning multiple kidnappings of French cryptocurrency entrepreneurs, was arrested in Tangier, Morocco. The French Minister of Justice confirmed that the suspect was wanted by Interpol for "kidnapping, illegal detention of hostages" and other crimes. Bajjou is suspected of being one of the masterminds of the kidnapping of David Balland, co-founder of the French crypto hardware wallet company Ledger, in January.
Moroccan security departments stated that criminal gangs recruited French teenagers through the Internet to carry out kidnappings. French authorities have prosecuted 25 suspects aged 16 to 23, but the main planner, a French-Moroccan man in his 40s, is still at large. These cases prompted the French Ministry of the Interior to hold an emergency meeting to strengthen security measures for crypto-rich people.
