A victim's cryptocurrency was stolen by an "acquaintance" who secretly obtained the mnemonic phrase when copying it.

PANews reported on May 30 that crypto KOL @michaelwong123 disclosed a typical "acquaintance-committed" cryptocurrency theft case. The victim was a high-income earner in the traditional industry. He entered the cryptocurrency circle through a "guide" more than a year ago and bought BTC and ETH. The mnemonic words were handwritten and stored in a safe. The wallet was genuine and no unknown links were clicked for authorization. Theoretically, it was safe, but the assets were still stolen. After investigation, it was found that the wallet was downloaded from the official channel, there was no unknown authorization, and the mnemonic words were not saved online. Therefore, it was suspected that the crime was committed by an acquaintance, and the "insider" was finally identified, that is, the guide, who had secretly obtained the mnemonic words when the victim copied them. In the discussion group analyzing the cause of the theft, the suspect was silent throughout the process and was only exposed after being arrested. Safety reminder: Download the wallet from the official website; do not click on unknown links or authorize at will; save the mnemonic words by hand, and do not save them on networked devices; be wary of people around you, if the mnemonic words/private keys are leaked, it will be difficult to protect your assets.
