PANews reported on January 13th that, according to Finance Feeds, the Ukrainian government officially took action on January 12th, 2026, to restrict access to the decentralized prediction platform Polymarket within the country. This enforcement action was led by the National Electronic Communications Regulatory Committee (NCEC) and based on the formal assessment results of PlayCity, the newly established national agency responsible for regulating the gambling and betting industry. The regulatory body determined that, under Ukrainian law, the operation of Polymarket constitutes unlicensed gambling, specifically noting that the platform lacked the local accreditation to organize and conduct betting activities. In accordance with Resolution 695, the polymarket.com domain name has been added to the country's Public Registry of Prohibited Internet Resources, requiring all local electronic communications service providers to restrict user access to the website.
Ukraine imposed a nationwide lockdown on Polymarket, citing unlicensed gambling operations.
