A British white-collar worker was sentenced to 33 months in prison for embezzling over £500,000 from his company and converting it into cryptocurrency for gambling.

PANews reported on December 2nd that, according to Decrypt, Jason Lowe, a 39-year-old man from North Yorkshire, England, embezzled over £500,000 (approximately $659,500) of company funds while employed by his employer between 2016 and 2024. He converted the funds into cryptocurrency for online gambling and was ultimately sentenced to 33 months in prison. He transferred funds by forging payments to companies such as Meteorbrand. Although his bank account was flagged for unusual transactions, he falsely claimed the funds came from a personal business he had sold in 2021. An internal investigation by the company triggered a crisis of trust among employees, and the police's economic crime unit later traced the cryptocurrency's flow, confirming his criminal activities.
