PANews reported on January 30 that according to The Block, Ethereum community members overwhelmingly supported Danny Ryan as the next leader of the Ethereum Foundation (EF) in an unofficial on-chain vote. Currently, 99% of the 296 wallets holding more than 50,000 ETH (worth about $160 million) voted for Ryan, but the vote has no formal effect.
The vote was initiated by Ethereum developer Fabrice Cheng, aiming to provide a channel for ETH holders, stakers and DeFi participants to express their opinions. At the same time, Consensys CEO and Ethereum co-founder Joseph Lubin also suggested that Danny Ryan and ETH France President Jerome de Tychey jointly lead EF to enhance technical orientation and vitality.
Danny Ryan was a core researcher at the Ethereum Foundation and played an important role in key upgrades such as Proof of Stake (PoS) and The Merge. He said he has started a dialogue with Vitalik Buterin and other members of the EF to explore the possibility of governance reform. Currently, Vitalik still retains the final say on changes to the foundation's leadership.
