PANews reported on January 9th that the Pudong Procuratorate disclosed a case involving the illegal sale of mobile phone location information: Li, an "insider" at a telecommunications company, colluded with an external group to illegally access and sell over a thousand pieces of citizens' location information for profit, with the group illegally gaining over 1.14 million yuan. The procuratorate, in conjunction with the police, overcame difficulties related to cryptocurrency transactions, forming a complete chain of evidence and successfully prosecuting four defendants. The court sentenced them to a maximum sentence of three and a half years in prison and a fine for the crime of infringing on citizens' personal information. In addition, a public interest litigation was initiated simultaneously, requiring the defendants to issue a public apology and compensate for public interest losses.
