PANews reported on January 8 that the Nikkei 225 index closed down 844.72 points, or 1.63%, at 51,117.26 on Thursday, January 8. The South Korean KOSPI index closed down 0.93 points, or 0.02%, at 4,550.13 on Thursday, January 8.
Japanese and South Korean stock markets closed lower, with the Nikkei 225 index falling more than 1%.
