PANews reported on June 28 that according to CryptoSlate, the Central Bank of Bolivia (BCB) reported that since the lifting of the cryptocurrency ban in 2024, the transaction volume of crypto payments has reached US$430 million in 12 months, a year-on-year increase of 630%. Among them, 86% of the transactions were completed by natural persons, of which 77% were men. The report only counted the traffic of channels registered with the financial system regulator ASFI, and peer-to-peer transaction activities were not counted. Payment channels related to Binance accounted for the largest share. In addition, Bolivia expanded the use of cryptocurrencies to the public sector on March 13, and the authorities allowed the national energy company YPFB to use digital assets to pay for fuel imports on the grounds of severe shortage of US dollars and continued tight fuel supply.
