PANews reported on February 21 that according to Decrypt, the NFT game project Illuvium reorganized and laid off employees due to poor business performance, and some core contributors chose to take a pay cut or receive wages in the form of tokens. Last year, Illuvium released three interrelated games: Overworld, Arena, and Zero, covering different game types, and the layoffs occurred at that time. Although Illuvium has a grand vision, after years of development, the community's response has not been very positive.
In December, co-founder Kieran Warwick admitted that "concerns" about the series' gameplay were legitimate and that things had to change. Among them, Illuvium had "substantially" reduced costs through adjustments such as setting a salary cap of $85,000. But this week, Warwick said even more drastic cuts would have to be made.
