据上证报消息，11月2日，香港金融管理局总裁余伟文在香港金融科技周上公开表示，金管局正与泰国中央银行合作，探讨建立以区块链为基础的央行数字货币网络以提升跨境支付效率。当前，已开发完成“点对点”即时跨境转拨资金的概念验证原型，下一步会探讨商业应用情景，例如跨境贸易结算和资本市场交易。之后，还将安排银行和大型企业以实际交易测试网络。
