2019年12月8日，国际清算银行(BIS)总经理Agustin Carstens在最近的一次讲话中说，敦促各国央行采用数字货币。他补充说，金融世界目前正在经历一场革命，银行作为值得信赖的机构，应该掌握控制权。但他只是支持专业数字货币，仍然不赞成比特币和大型科技公司的其他项目，例如Facebook的Libra。
