The A-share market closed out 2025 with the Shanghai Composite Index rising over 18% for the year and the ChiNext Index leading the pack with a nearly 50% gain.

PANews reported on December 31 that the A-share market closed out 2025 today, with the three major indices showing mixed results. The Shanghai Composite Index achieved its 11th consecutive day of gains, delivering a strong performance for the year.

  1. The three major indices saw two consecutive years of gains: In 2025, the Shanghai Composite Index rose by 18.41%, the Shenzhen Component Index rose by 29.87%, and the ChiNext Index surged by 49.57%, making it the most eye-catching performer.

  2. Popular sectors saw active rotation: sectors such as computing hardware, non-ferrous metals, banking, the battery industry chain, innovative drugs, commercial aerospace, and robotics performed strongly, with active market trading and daily turnover exceeding one trillion yuan becoming the norm. The total turnover of the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges for the year exceeded 400 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of over 60%, setting a new historical record.

  3. Individual stocks performed exceptionally well: the top three gainers this year were Shangwei New Materials (1821.41%), Tianpu Shares (1662.49%), and N Hengdongguang (878.16%). In addition, several leading technology stocks, including Shenghong Technology, Xin Yisheng, and Zhongji Xuchuang, saw their annual gains exceed 300%.
