According to Mougayar, while Ethereum uses blockchain technology, its core is a programmable coordination layer, a native protocol for value, identity, and collaboration in the digital world. Unlike traditional databases, which are cold and static, Ethereum is more like a vibrant and open ecosystem, constantly evolving and co-built by developers, validators, and users.

Mougayar points out that if the internet is a “network of information,” then Ethereum is a “network of ownership and consensus”—where value, identity, and coordination become as native to the digital world as information.

In addition, he emphasized that Ethereum's real rival is not Solana or BNB chain, because those are closed, centralized, and non-evolving systems; while Ethereum is a self-sustaining, open consensus, and continuously evolving civilization-level protocol.

If the internet allows us to share information, then Ethereum allows us to share ownership.
