PANews reported on March 10 that according to Cointelegraph, European Central Bank (ECB) President Christine Lagarde said that the European Union is planning to launch a digital euro (CBDC) in October 2025. Currently, the project is still in the development and testing stage and aims to provide the euro area with more efficient and secure digital payment solutions.

It was reported last year that the ECB plans to launch a digital euro in November 2025 .
