PANews reported on October 13 that OpenAI announced a partnership with Broadcom (AVGO.O) to jointly produce its first independently designed artificial intelligence processor. This is the latest chip cooperation reached by OpenAI to ensure the supply of computing power and meet the surging demand for AI. Broadcom (AVGO.O) stock price rose by more than 12% in pre-market trading. The two parties said on Monday that OpenAI will be responsible for chip design, and Broadcom will begin development and deployment in the second half of 2026, with plans to launch customized chips with a total computing power of 10 gigawatts, which consumes electricity equivalent to more than 8 million American households. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said in a statement: "Collaboration with Broadcom is a key step in building the infrastructure needed to unleash the potential of AI." The financial details of the agreement have not been disclosed, and it is not clear how OpenAI will finance it.
