Ripple legal chief advises SEC on new leadership to overhaul crypto rules

PANews reported on November 24 that according to News.bitcoin, Ripple Chief Legal Officer Stuart Alderoty shared his advice to the incoming leadership of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on the social media platform X. Alderoty expressed confidence in the transition team's ability to effectively resolve cryptocurrency regulatory issues and urged a number of actions.

Ripple's legal chief suggested an immediate end to crypto lawsuits that are not related to fraud and promoting cooperation by ensuring that SEC Commissioners Mark Uyeda and Hester Peirce continue to serve. He stressed the need to work with Congress and financial regulators to develop clear and straightforward crypto rules, rather than defaulting to the SEC's jurisdiction. In addition, he called for abandoning the 2018 Hinman speech and the 2019 Digital Asset Analysis Framework, increasing transparency in the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) process, and taking steps to restore public trust and accountability by addressing past SEC issues through the Office of Inspector General.
