PANews reported on June 7 that according to Decrypt, two cryptocurrency advocacy organizations submitted amicus briefs on behalf of Samourai Wallet this week, but were rejected by a federal judge. The Blockchain Association, Coin Center, and DeFi Education Fund argued in their respective briefs that Samourai Wallet only helps people conduct financial transactions online and does not violate US law. Police arrested Keonne Rodriguez and William Lonergan Hill, the developers of Samourai Wallet, in April 2024 and subsequently shut down the website; the US Department of Justice accused the application of being an "unlicensed money transfer business" used by criminals.
