더블록에 따르면 오픈AI 최고경영자(CEO) 샘 알트만이 주도하는 프로젝트 월드코인(WLD)이 월드ID에 가입한 사람들이 자신의 홍채 스캔을 영구적으로 삭제하는 것을 요청할 수 있는 옵션을 제공한다. 프로젝트 측은 "요청시 6개월의 쿨오프(cool off)을 거친 후 이를 수행한다"고 밝혔다. 월드코인은 "신규 사용자에게 자신의 데이터에 대한 통제권을 제공하는 '개인 보관(Personal Custody)'이라는 새로운 이니셔티브를 출시했으며, 이를 사용하면 신규 가입시 개인 데이터가 본인 스마트폰 등 개인 장치에 저장된다"고 설명했다. 추가적으로 월드코인은 18세 이상의 사람들만 사용할 수 있도록 연령 확인 작업을 실시할 것이라고 덧붙였다.
