코인베이스 전 최고기술책임자(CTO) 발라지 스리니바산(Balaji Srinivasan)이 X를 통해 "밈코인은 제로섬 복권이다. 밈코인 분야에서는 가치가 창출되지 않고, 모든 매수 주문은 매도 주문과 매치된다. 또 초기 급등 이후에는 결국 가격이 폭락하고, 마지막 매수자는 모든 것을 잃게 된다. 트레이딩 플랫폼에서 수수료를 떼면 실제로 창출되는 부는 오히려 마이너스"라고 전했다.
