스팟온체인이 X를 통해 "약 6년간 휴면 상태였던 두 개의 이더리움 고래 주소가 시장 급락 직전(8시간 전) 비트파이넥스에 135,548 ETH(3억 9900만 달러)를 입금했다. 해당 고래 주소들은 2019년 1월 5일 평단가 153.65 달러에 2080만 달러 규모의 ETH를 매집한 것으로 나타났으며 현재 3억 7830만 달러 미실현 수익을 기록중”이라고 분석했다.
