폭스비즈니스 기자 엘리노어 테렛에 따르면, 새로 지도부를 꾸린 미국 연방예금보험공사(FDIC)가 암호화폐 관련 서비스에 참여했거나 참여하려 했던 은행을 감시했다는 내용의 문서를 공개했다. FDIC는 암호화폐, 블록체인에 관심이 있던 24개 기관들에 일시 중지(pause), 자제를 요청하는 서한 25건을 발송했고, 이에 따라 대다수 은행들은 암호화폐 관련 서비스 추진을 중단한 것으로 전해졌다. 앞서 미국 암호화폐 업계에서는 FDIC가 암호화폐 감독 관련 주요 정보를 은폐하고 있다는 지적이 제기된 바 있다. 이와 관련 암호화폐에 친화적인 미국 상원의원 신시아 루미스(Cynthia Lummis)는 "FDIC가 신속하고 효율적으로 해당 문건을 공개하게 돼 기쁘다. 이제 초크 포인트 2.0 작전(Operation Choke Point 2.0· 미국 정부가 암호화폐에 대한 규제 및 금융 압박을 강화하려는 움직임)은 끝났다"고 전했다.
