암호화폐 싫다던 뱅가드, 게임스탑 통해 BTC 간접 투자

그간 암호화폐 익스포저(노출)를 극도로 꺼려왔던 글로벌 자산운용사 뱅가드가 게임스탑을 통해 BTC에 간접 투자하게 됐다고 비트코인닷컴이 전했다. 뱅가드가 최대 주주로 있는 게임스탑은 최근 비트코인 매입을 위해 13억 달러 상당 전환사채를 발행할 계획이라고 밝힌 바 있다. 매체는 "암호화폐에 신중한 입장을 취했던 뱅가드 입장에서는 예상치 못한 상황을 맞닥뜨린 것과 같다. 그간 블랙록과 피델리티 등 경쟁사가 디지털자산 시장에 뛰어들 때도 뱅가드는 팔짱만 끼고 있었다"고 설명했다. 앞서 뱅가드는 비트코인은 투기적이고 내재 가치가 없다며 암호화폐 ETF 출시 계획이 없다고 공식 발표한 바 있다.
