PANews reported on December 5 that according to Bitcoin.com, Russian President Vladimir Putin recently considered the role that the national digital currency might play in the organization's future. At the "Voice of Russia" forum organized by VTB Bank, one of Russia's largest financial institutions, Putin mentioned these digital assets and acknowledged that experts predict that the use of these assets and their related infrastructure in the financial field will be conducive to global growth. As part of this new model, Putin believes that the digital ruble, which is still in the pilot stage, will play an important role in the future. He recalled that 9,000 citizens and 1,200 companies participated in this pilot phase. The digital ruble will be used for settlement in the federal budget system next year and is scheduled to be fully launched in July.

Putin then linked these digital assets to the upcoming BRICS investment platform, hinting at the use of these digital assets as a tool for completing multilateral settlements. He stressed that Russia’s leading position in the field of financial technology enables it to “establish relations with foreign partners, promote integration projects and benefit from the convergence of the economic potential of countries.”

Earlier yesterday, at the same forum, Putin emphasized the characteristics of digital currency, especially Bitcoin compared to the U.S. dollar, pointing out that no one can ban it in its current form, and that these technologies will continue to exist and adapt to avoid external restrictions and intervention from third parties.
