PANews reported on June 6 that Tigran Gambaryan, former U.S. federal agent and head of financial crime compliance at Binance, announced his resignation, ending his four-year career at Binance. In his resignation statement, Gambaryan said that he would continue to work on connecting law enforcement, technology and compliance in the future, and said that he would be honored to have the opportunity to serve the country.
It is reported that Gambaryan joined Binance in 2021 and formed a global investigation team of 100 people, including former prosecutors and federal agents. In 2024, he was detained by Nigerian authorities for 8 months on charges related to Binance operations. He was later released under bipartisan political pressure in the United States and was eventually exempted from charges, but Nigeria still holds Binance accountable.
Earlier news, Binance executives reiterated that Nigerian lawmakers demanded a $150 million bribe in exchange for dropping the lawsuit .
