PANews reported on April 2 that according to Decrypt, the organizers of Dogwifhat have abandoned plans to advertise it in the Las Vegas Sphere. The project previously raised nearly $700,000 worth of cryptocurrency for the fundraising campaign, which lasted more than a year and finally failed. In late January this year, the official X account of the token hinted that "the dog in the hat" would appear on the outer shell of the sphere in the first quarter of 2025. Late Monday night, the organizer GamesMasterFlex (also known as Edward) announced on the X platform that the Dogwifhat advertising plan would be terminated, and refunds to donors would begin as early as Tuesday. The statement was forwarded by the official X account of the token.
Edward once said that the team had reached an agreement with a "fashion brand partner" to display the Dogwifhat logo in the sphere venue. The relevant news of the official X account of the token was first confirmed and then withdrawn, and finally only hinted that the dog image would appear on the shell of the sphere in the first quarter of 2025. But a few days later, a spokesperson for the sphere venue denied signing an agreement, saying that it only accepted cryptocurrency exchanges and Bitcoin-related advertisements, had never reached a deal with Dogwifhat, and had no plans to display it now or in the future. The other party's abuse of name fraud was outrageous. Edward said that this statement "scared off" fashion brand partners, and the company cared about the wording of "outrage" and "fraudulent purpose" in the venue statement. After the official rumor was refuted, the token WIF plummeted 18% the next day. Edward said that this caused partners to be alert that advertising might affect the price of tokens and attracted the attention of the SEC, and the cooperation was eventually aborted.
