Ripple is expanding its stablecoin RLUSD to institutional users in Africa

PANews reported on September 4th that according to CoinDesk, digital asset company Ripple is expanding its USD-backed stablecoin, RLUSD, to institutional users in Africa through new partnerships with distributors such as Chipper Cash, VALR, and Yellow Card. Meanwhile, Mercy Corps Ventures is testing RLUSD in a climate risk insurance program in Kenya. In one trial, stablecoin funds are automatically disbursed when satellite data indicates drought conditions. Another pilot supports rainfall insurance, where extreme weather events trigger payouts.
