PANews reported on May 28 that according to CoinDesk, Melissa Muehlfeld, global general counsel of crypto exchange OKX, has resigned. Muehlfeld joined OKX's US branch OKCoin as deputy general counsel in May 2022 and was promoted to global general counsel in August 2024. OKX has previously replaced Chief Legal Officer Mauricio Beugelmans and Compliance Director Vanessa Zhang, and appointed Linda Lacewell, former director of the New York Department of Financial Services, as the new chief legal officer. According to people familiar with the matter, Lacewell is reorganizing the legal and compliance department.
OKX spokesperson said it is company policy not to comment on personnel changes. Muehlfeld did not respond to a request for comment as of press time. The personnel changes come as the exchange strengthens its global compliance efforts.
