PANews reported on February 6 that Trump's Ukrainian peace plan was "leaked" according to the British Daily Mail. It is reported that the Ukrainian army will be forced to leave Russia's Kursk region, while a detachment of European soldiers, which may include British troops, will be sent to a demilitarized zone to maintain order. The US military will not join this task force. The European Union will be asked to assist in Ukraine's reconstruction efforts, which is estimated to cost up to $486 billion over the next decade. The plans will reportedly begin with a telephone conversation between Zelensky and Putin in early February, with talks between the leaders of the two warring countries from late February to early March, and a formal announcement of a ceasefire on April 20. Subsequently, the parties will issue a detailed statement on the end of the war by May 9, after which Kiev will not be able to prolong the state of war or mobilize its troops. While many of the terms of the plan include concessions from Ukraine, Trump also plans to continue to provide support for the Ukrainian army and pave the way for Ukraine to join the European Union in 2030.
