Coinbase CEO predicts that 10% of global GDP will be based on cryptocurrencies by 2030

PANews reported on February 14 that according to Cointelegraph, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong said in a Q4 2024 earnings call that by 2030, about 10% of the world's GDP will be based on cryptocurrency. Armstrong compared the current trend of companies promoting cryptocurrency integration with how businesses adapted to the Internet in the early 2000s, and believed that onchain is the new online.

Based on the current global GDP of about $100 trillion, Armstrong predicts that more than $10 trillion of value will be tokenized or transferred to the chain. He also pointed out that the United States will lead this change, saying that "the United States now has the most pro-cryptocurrency Congress in history," which will promote legislation on stablecoins and market structures, and other countries are expected to follow its footsteps.

In addition, Armstrong said Coinbase will be the preferred partner for many companies in this transformation and plans to drive revenue growth through existing products and lay the foundation for growth in the next decade.
