Eric Trump says he entered the crypto space for political reasons and calls Bitcoin "digital gold"

PANews reported on May 16 that according to CoinDesk, Eric Trump, son of US President Trump, called Bitcoin "digital gold" at the Consensus 2025 conference, revealing that he entered the crypto field for political reasons. He said that when the political attacks on the Trump family spread to the crypto community, it prompted the two sides to establish an alliance. American Bitcoin, a Bitcoin mining company co-founded by Eric, plans to go public through a merger with Gryphon Digital Mining.

Eric Trump pointed out the limitations of real estate liquidity and recognized the liquidity of Bitcoin. The CEO of Hut 8 revealed that the merger was to quickly realize the listing of American Bitcoin, and the company name deliberately included the keywords "US" and "Bitcoin". Eric Trump is currently the chief strategy officer of the mining company, and the project is the result of cooperation with Hut 8.
