Biden's farewell speech focuses on AI, climate crisis and social media regulation

PANews reported on January 16 that US President Biden delivered a farewell speech in the Oval Office of the White House on the evening of January 15, covering topics such as artificial intelligence, climate crisis, and social media regulation. He stressed that the United States must maintain its lead in the field of artificial intelligence and develop safeguards for its development, while expressing concerns about the concentration of power in the technology industry. He pointed out that climate change is an existential threat and called for efforts to avoid compromising the climate crisis due to powerful interests. In addition, Biden criticized social platforms for abandoning fact-checking, resulting in the spread of false information, and stressed the need to hold social platforms accountable. In the political and judicial fields, he proposed limiting the term of office of Supreme Court justices to 18 years, and believed that no president should enjoy immunity from crimes committed during his term. Finally, he wished Trump's new administration success and called for joint efforts to address key challenges.
