Mysten Labs’ former chief legal officer Kevin Boon joins as president

PANews reported on January 10 that according to The Block, Kevin Boon, the new president of Web3 infrastructure company Mysten Labs, plans to focus on the strategy and daily operations of the Sui blockchain ecosystem in the new year while responding to the changing regulatory and political environment. After serving as chief legal officer of Wb3 Infrastructure, Boon was appointed president by the board of directors and took office this month. He previously held several positions at Block, a payment and blockchain infrastructure company founded by Jack Dorsey, including leading regulatory, product, commercial and international legal teams.

One of Boon’s first important responsibilities will be to help Mysten Labs launch the Walrus Protocol mainnet, which he expects to happen “soon” in 2025. Built on Sui, Walrus is a decentralized storage platform designed to manage the lifecycle of programmable storage and aims to reduce the cost of data availability for blockchain-based applications. Boon said Mysten is interested in exploring the stablecoin space, especially if clear regulation is implemented.
