PANews reported on May 19 that according to the Beijing News, on May 15, the Haidian Court and the Internet Society of China jointly released the "White Paper on Corruption Crimes of Internal Personnel in Internet Enterprises" and typical cases. In one case, Shi, a user manager of a network technology company, introduced suppliers to cooperate in virtual currency business, illegally accepted bribes and embezzled virtual currency to cash out. From April 2014 to January 2019, Shi served as the user manager of the Tieba business department. He took advantage of his position to illegally accept 6.08 million yuan from a Beijing technology company. From June to December 2016, he cashed in part of the virtual currency and illegally occupied 3.66 million yuan from the company. In February 2021, Shi was arrested. After trial, the court held that Shi constituted the crime of bribery and embezzlement by non-state personnel, and sentenced him to twelve years in prison for multiple crimes. Shi appealed, but the second-instance court rejected the appeal and upheld the original verdict, which has now come into effect. This case warns Internet companies that they need to strengthen internal anti-corruption.
