PANews reported on May 10 that according to DL News, two developers of Bitcoin privacy wallet Samourai Wallet, Keonne Rodriguez and William Lonergan Hill, are facing charges of money laundering and operating an unlicensed money transmission business. Although the defense pointed out that the US Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) had stated that the wallet may not meet the definition of a money transmitter under the Bank Secrecy Act, the prosecutor refused to withdraw the charges and denied the existence of a "Brady violation" (i.e., failure to disclose evidence in favor of the defendant). The prosecutor believes that the opinion of the US Financial Crimes Enforcement Network is not related to the more serious money laundering charges, and the case will proceed as planned, and is expected to enter the trial stage within the next seven months.
