PANews reported on November 13 that according to Whale Alert monitoring, Tether Treasury minted 1 billion USDT (worth $1.001 billion) on the Ethereum network. In response, Tether Chief Technology Officer Paolo Ardoino explained that this was an "authorized but unissued" transaction, and the minted USDT will be used as inventory to meet issuance needs and on-chain exchanges in the future.
