PANews, June 20 — The WeChat official account of China’s prosecutors published an article titled "Key Points on Cross-Border Electronic Evidence Collection in Virtual Currency Money Laundering Crimes | Foreign-Related Case Studies." The article points out that when handling virtual currency money laundering cases, virtual currency wallet addresses should be used as a breakthrough point. By applying blockchain technology, comprehensively analyzing on-chain data characteristics and the fund flow features of fraudulent platforms, various money laundering activities conducted through virtual currencies can be identified, enabling precise crackdowns.
It is necessary to base the analysis on case-handling practices, examine the cross-border nature of electronic evidence in the context of virtual currency money laundering crime patterns, clarify the two core evidentiary elements of identity correlation and transaction correlation, define key points for evidence collection, and enhance the completeness and stability of the evidence system by constructing an evidence collection model of "domestic evidence collection as the foundation, cross-border evidence collection as reinforcement." At the same time, the applicable boundaries between unilateral evidence collection and bilateral judicial assistance should be standardized, promoting the precision of cross-border evidence collection requests and the front-loading of evidence standards, thereby continuously improving the quality and efficiency of handling virtual currency money laundering crime cases.
