Indian payments company Billdesk acquires Worldline's Indian business at a discount

PANews reported on February 26 that, according to The Economic Times, Indian digital payments company Billdesk will acquire the Indian payments business of French payments giant Worldline. The transaction values ​​the equity at approximately $70 million and the enterprise at approximately $43.6 million. Worldline will sign a long-term technology and software cooperation agreement with Billdesk, with its software stack continuing to operate in India while retaining its global competence center in India serving its Western European operations. Worldline's Indian business includes Ingenico, which it acquired in 2020, and Techprocess, a local payments processor acquired by Ingenico in 2017 for approximately 600 million rupees. Founded in 2000, Billdesk is one of India's leading bill payment processors, with FY24 revenue of 24.46 billion rupees and net profit of 1.21 billion rupees.
