UK regulators are considering allowing bettors to use cryptocurrency payments.

PANews reported on February 27th, citing Bloomberg, that the UK Gambling Commission is planning to explore the possibility of allowing gamblers to use cryptocurrencies for payments. Tim Miller, Executive Director of Research and Policy at the Gambling Commission, stated that with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) expected to finalize cryptocurrency regulations this year and have them in effect by the end of 2027, gaming companies may apply for relevant crypto licenses in the future. Miller has asked an industry advisory group to study how to safely advance crypto payments, believing that allowing digital asset payments in regulated venues could help reduce the risks posed by illegal gambling websites.
