The report, citing two sources familiar with the matter, stated that the US military is accelerating the deployment of thousands of Marines and Navy personnel to the Middle East. This deployment includes the amphibious assault ship USS Boxer, the amphibious transport dock USS Portland, and the dock landing ship USS Comstock, carrying approximately 4,500 Marines and other combat personnel.
