PANews reported on April 2nd that, according to Xinhua News Agency citing Israel's public broadcaster, Israel is concerned that US President Trump might declare the military action against Iran "achieved results and ended" before negotiations have yielded clear outcomes. The report quoted an Israeli official as saying that negotiations between the US and Iran are "not progressing positively." There are divisions within the Iranian leadership regarding how to respond to the US-proposed agreement; some officials favor a positive response, while others advocate continuing the war. The report stated that the US and Israel are currently coordinating a series of "high-intensity operations," which could be implemented in the coming days. Trump posted on social media on April 1st that Iran "just requested a ceasefire from the US," but the US would only "consider" it if the Strait of Hormuz were open. Later that day, Iran's Press TV reported that an Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated that Trump's remarks were "false and baseless."
