On April 10th, PANews reported that Binance founder Changpeng Zhao posted on the X platform demanding an apology from OKX CEO Star, and launched a $1 billion bet to prove he had already divorced his ex-wife, stating that he could have his lawyer verify the divorce agreement. Star responded that as the ultimate beneficiary of a regulated company, publicly making a $1 billion bet was unprofessional, and that proving whether Zhao was lying only required demonstrating whether his Binance shares had been legally divided with his ex-wife. Zhao subsequently stated that Star should apologize directly instead of changing the subject, denying misleading the public, stating that the issue of Binance shares was irrelevant to Star, and indicating that he would no longer participate in the discussion. Star responded that he would not participate in public bets due to compliance requirements and had no intention of interfering in Zhao's private life, but he had the right to question several inaccurate statements made about him in books and public interviews, and that the distribution of family assets in multiple jurisdictions was a legal and moral responsibility.
Zhao Changpeng has initiated a $1 billion bet to prove his divorce, but Star claims that demonstrating shareholding division is sufficient and no bet is necessary.
