PANews reported on April 16 that the US military announced that ships suspected of transporting contraband to Iran, regardless of their location, will be subject to the "right of warring states to board and search" and may be seized. The contraband includes oil, refined petroleum products, iron, steel, and aluminum. The US military will also expand its maritime blockade of Iran to include smuggled goods such as ammunition and weapons.
