Tanzanian police have launched an investigation into the death of the fiancée of the founder of crypto hedge fund Asymmetric.

PANews reported on April 17th, citing Cointelegraph, that police in Zanzibar, Tanzania, are investigating the death of Ashly Robinson, the fiancée of Joe McCann, founder of the crypto hedge fund Asymmetric. Robinson died in a hospital on April 9th, discovered by hotel staff the day before. Police have preliminarily ruled it a suicide but are still questioning McCann and have confiscated his passport until an autopsy is completed. Hotel staff stated that the couple had a "misunderstanding" and were separated into different rooms. Robinson's family has questioned the suicide conclusion, stating that Robinson had celebrated her birthday and engagement a few days before her death and was in good spirits. McCann was the founder of the crypto hedge fund Asymmetric, which had been criticized by investors for its poor performance during market volatility.
