PANews reported on May 8th that Josh Swihart, founder and CEO of the Zcash Open Development Lab, stated at Consensus 2026 in Miami that a full post-quantum protocol upgrade for Zcash is expected to be completed within 12 to 18 months. Simultaneously, the team plans to add token holder voting functionality to Zodl (formerly the Zashi wallet), allowing users to directly express their opinions on the protocol's development direction through their wallets. However, this mechanism will not replace the current governance model based on "rough consensus."
Zcash expects to complete its quantum protocol upgrade within 12 to 18 months.
