PANews reported on May 14th that, according to Decrypt, X platform user Cprkrn posted that Anthropic's Claude AI helped him recover a Bitcoin wallet lost nearly nine years ago, containing 5 BTC worth approximately $400,000. The post garnered over 6 million views, sparking discussion about the role of AI in crypto wallet recovery. On-chain data shows that the wallet had not been used since 2015 and was recently transferred. The user stated that previous attempts with tools like btcrecover and Hashcat were unsuccessful, and ultimately, files from an old computer were uploaded to Claude, which helped identify files related to the mnemonic phrase. Wallet recovery experts stated that the screenshots show AI-assisted file analysis, not that Claude "cracked" Bitcoin encryption. Claude's role was likely to sift through large amounts of historical data and identify clues related to old wallet credentials.
A user on a certain platform, X, claimed that Claude AI helped him "recover" his Bitcoin wallet, which had been lost for nearly nine years.
