PANews reported on May 26th that, according to Cointelegraph, scammers have been using Google search to place malicious phishing ads impersonating Uniswap, resulting in losses of at least $400,000. On-chain analyst b-block pointed out on the X platform that fake Uniswap websites are stealing funds from multiple wallets. Stacy Muur, founder of Web3 marketing agency Green Dots, stated that Google has ignored this issue for years, with paid fake ads consistently ranking above legitimate search results. A report from the security alliance SEAL stated that phishing activity on Google search increased significantly in March, with attackers placing ads impersonating crypto protocols by bidding on or hacking legitimate advertising accounts. SEAL has blocked over 356 malicious ad links, and this activity has continued for over a year without showing signs of slowing down.
Scammers profited at least $400,000 by placing fake Uniswap ads on Google.
