PANews reported on June 4th that, according to the New York Post, prediction market platform Polymarket believes its competitor Kalshi may be conducting corporate espionage against its New York office and employees. A Polymarket marketing director confirmed the company is investigating, stating that too many coincidences suggest Kalshi has malicious intent. Polymarket has compiled an internal file titled "Imitators," documenting approximately a dozen suspicious events. These include: Polymarket planning a free grocery pop-up event on February 12th, while Kalshi launched a similar event approximately nine days earlier; Polymarket planning to announce a perpetual contract product on April 21st, and Polymarket also planning to announce a perpetual contract product on April 21st, but just an hour before the announcement, tech media outlet The Information published an article claiming that Kalshi was also planning to launch its own perpetual contract product. Polymarket employees are also concerned that Paradigm, a venture capital firm backed by Kalshi, has an office across the street from theirs, potentially allowing them to spy on employees' computer screens; Polymarket even tinted some of its windows this spring. A Kalshi spokesperson denied all allegations, calling Polymarket's suspicions "pathetic and almost delusional."
Polymarket accused Kalshi of engaging in commercial espionage, claiming there were "too many coincidences" in the product's early launch.
