PANews reported on June 8th that, according to blockchain detective ZachXBT, the recent UK sanctions against Huobi/HTX have caused widespread on-chain "pollution." Compliance tools are marking all HTX-related addresses as high-risk, forcing them to largely ignore the "sanctions" label in case tracking. ZachXBT pointed out that previously sanctioned crypto platforms were often involved in a high proportion of illicit activities (such as Huione, Blender, Hydra, etc.), while HTX has a large number of Asian retail users. The current approach leads to distorted risk assessments and fails to distinguish between transactions before and after the sanctions. He also stated that the UK has a long history of poor handling of crypto cases, having previously overlooked a large-scale money laundering case involving approximately $1.25 billion.
