PANews reported on June 16th, citing Cointelegraph, that Zach Pandl, head of research at Grayscale, stated that the US order to Anthropic to cut off access to its latest AI models highlights the risks of centralized AI control and could increase demand for decentralized alternatives. Last Friday, the US government, citing national security concerns, demanded that Anthropic suspend providing model access to foreign citizens, after which Anthropic completely disabled Fable 5 and Mythos 5.
Pandl noted that within 12 hours of Anthropic cutting off access, Bittensor's TAO token surged 30%, hitting a three-week high of $283. He stated that Bittensor offers an AI alternative based on decentralized principles, "which can be seen as the Bitcoin of the AI world." EdgeRunner AI co-founder Colton Malkerson believes this event marks a turning point in corporate data independence, drawing an analogy to "a landlord being able to cancel the lease and kick you out at any time when renting a house."
